The government will use data from the Central Database System (PADU) as the main reference for the upcoming implementation of targeted subsidies for RON95 fuel, according to Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
Amir Hamzah, who is also the Acting Economy Minister, stated that utilising PADU will help improve accuracy in identifying eligible recipients, ensuring that subsidies are distributed more fairly and effectively.
“The implementation of targeted subsidies, with PADU being used by the Finance Ministry, will serve as the reference for RON95 subsidy recipients,” he said during a session in the Dewan Rakyat.

PADU currently contains over 30.4 million individual profiles, having integrated data from more than 200 government agencies. The system includes comprehensive information such as demographics, income levels, education background, socioeconomic status, and government assistance history.
To date, nine government agencies have been granted access to PADU for policy coordination and to enhance public service efficiency. Amir Hamzah also assured that data handling practices are in full compliance with existing laws, circulars, and regulations to ensure data privacy and safety.

This move follows a previous announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who revealed that Malaysians may soon benefit from RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre under the new targeted subsidy mechanism. Further details are expected to be announced by the end of September.
