Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia is gearing up to introduce two brand-new models to the local market — the Jaecoo J5 and the Omoda C9 PHEV, both set to make their first public debut in Malaysia. These exciting new vehicles will be revealed during the Omoda Jaecoo Carnival, happening from August 21 to 24 at Desa Park City.

The Omoda C9 PHEV is the plug-in hybrid version of the Omoda C9, which has already been on sale in Malaysia in ICE form. This new electrified variant is expected to come with the brand’s advanced Super Hybrid System (SHS). It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, three electric motors, and a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (3DHT).
Internationally, this system delivers some serious numbers: a combined output of 590 hp and 915 Nm of torque. It’s powered by a 34.46 /kWh battery, offering up to 22.7 /km of electric-only range (WLTC). Together with the fuel tank, the vehicle offers a total range of up to 1,100 km.
When it comes to charging, the C9 PHEV supports both 6.6 /kW AC charging (30%–100% in 5.5 hours) and 70 /kW DC fast charging (30%–80% in just 25 minutes), providing drivers with flexible recharging options.

The Jaecoo J5 is a B-segment SUV positioned below the Jaecoo J7. Measuring 4,380 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase, it is a direct rival to the Honda HR-V and Proton X50.
Design-wise, the J5 adopts a Range Rover-inspired boxy look with bold lines, just like its larger J7 sibling. Inside, it comes with a 13.2-inch portrait-style infotainment display, 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, and a unique four-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
Although offered with both ICE and EV variants overseas, the Malaysian version is expected to feature a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 194 hp and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) powering the front wheels.
While pricing has yet to be confirmed, expectations suggest the Jaecoo J5 will be priced slightly above RM100,000, making it one of the more affordable premium-looking compact SUVs on the market. The Omoda C9 PHEV, on the other hand, is likely to be priced closer to RM200,000, especially since the Omoda C9 AWD already starts at RM188,800.
