1. Assess the Existing Floor Condition

- Chemical resistance → Will the floor be exposed to oils, acids, or solvents?
- Hygiene → Do you need food-grade, dust-free, or easy-to-clean surfaces?
- Safety → Should it be anti-slip, anti-static (ESD), or fire-resistant?
- Temperature → Will it face high heat (ovens) or freezing conditions (cold storage)?
- Epoxy Flooring → General industrial use, dust-proof, chemical-resistant.
- PU (Polyurethane) Flooring → Heavy-duty, thermal shock resistance, food & beverage industries.
- Concrete Densification/Polishing → Dust-free, hard, low maintenance, cost-effective.
- Vinyl/Other Specialized Floors → For offices, cleanrooms, or medical facilities.
- Ensure flooring meets local regulations (DOSH, DOE, HACCP, GMP, ISO depending on your industry).
- Include slip resistance in wet/oily areas.
- Mark safety zones, walkways, and forklift lanes with floor line marking paint.
- Remove old coatings, adhesives, or contaminants.
- Grind, shot-blast, or scarify the floor for proper adhesion.
- Repair cracks, joints, and potholes.
- Ensure moisture-proofing (install damp-proof membrane if needed).
- Apply primer, base coat, and final finish according to system chosen.
- Allow proper curing time before equipment installation.
- Test adhesion and surface strength after completion.
- Schedule regular inspections for cracks, peeling, or wear.
- Set cleaning procedures (machine scrubbers, chemical-safe detergents).
- Repair small damages quickly to avoid costly shutdowns.
The first steps are inspection, requirement analysis, and surface preparation. Only then choose the right flooring (Epoxy, PU, or Polished Concrete) based on your factory’s operations.
