The undergraduate application process is conducted entirely online. No hard copies of application documents need to be mailed.

The program duration is 4 years. Students who complete all required credits and successfully defend their graduation thesis will be awarded a Bachelor’s Degree and Graduation Certificate. The mode of study is full-time.
I. Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport, be in good health, of good character, and have the required academic background and Chinese language proficiency.

Applicants for undergraduate programs should be no older than 35 years old and must hold a high school diploma and pass the CSCA (China Studies for College Admission) entrance examination.
Note: Age limits for scholarship applicants are subject to specific scholarship requirements.

Due to limited dormitory capacity on campus, students who are unable to secure university housing must arrange off-campus accommodation independently.

According to the regulations of China’s Ministry of Education, all international students must purchase medical insurance within China. Students can purchase insurance online on the day of registration. Failure to do so will result in denial of registration.
IV. Application Method
Applications must be completed online, and an application fee of RMB 600 must be paid.
The application fee is non-refundable regardless of admission results.

Complete the online application form via the USTB application portal (E-Square will assist in account setup).

High School Diploma – Original or notarized copy in Chinese or English.

Official High School Transcripts – Original or notarized copy in Chinese or English.

Copy of Passport – Must be a valid ordinary passport.

Language Proficiency Certificate:

For Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 4 or above.

For English-taught programs (for applicants from non-English-speaking countries): IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 70, or other recognized English proficiency certificates.

Medical Examination Report – Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

Financial Guarantee Letter – Letter of Financial Guarantee (USTB).

Non-Criminal Record Certificate.

Scholarship Applicants – Indicate the intended scholarship in the system during application (optional).

CSCA (China Studies for College Admission) Test Results.
Applicants for undergraduate programs must submit valid CSCA results.
a) Chinese-taught majors (Chinese subject test required):

Liberal Arts in Chinese: English, Japanese, German, Public Administration, Social Work, Law, Accounting, International Economics & Trade, Financial Engineering, Big Data Management & Application, Information Management & Information Systems, Visual Communication Design.

Science in Chinese: Other undergraduate majors.
b) Mathematics Test:
Required for all majors.

For Environmental Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering: test in English.

For other majors: test in Chinese.
c) Physics or Chemistry Test:
Required for applicants to Science, Engineering, or Agriculture majors (either subject accepted).

VI. Admission Results
The International Student Center will announce admission results by the end of June, and electronic versions of the Admission Notice and JW202 Form will be sent to successful applicants via the official email (admission@ustb.edu.cn) in July.
All admission documents will be provided in electronic format and can be used to apply for a student visa at Chinese embassies or consulates. Paper originals will be available upon arrival and registration at USTB.
VII. Enrollment
Students are expected to arrive and register at USTB in early September each year.
Exact dates will be stated in the Admission Notice and confirmed via official email (admission@ustb.edu.cn).
Admitted students must bring their original high school diploma for qualification verification upon registration. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Type A (Bilateral Program): Apply through Chinese embassies or consulates (November–March each year).

IX. Accommodation Registration
-
Students living on-campus will register with the local Public Security Bureau through the dormitory front desk.
-
Students living off-campus must register at the local police station within 24 hours of moving in.
X. Visa Application
Admitted students must apply for a Student Visa (X1 Visa) at a Chinese embassy or consulate using the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201/JW202).
Upon arrival in China, students must convert the X1 visa into a Residence Permit for Study within 30 days at the International Student Center.
