Xi'an Jiaotong University is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education and a member of China's C9 League universities. Founded in 1896, it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China. The university is a comprehensive research university covering 11 disciplines, including science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, literature, law, philosophy, arts, education, and interdisciplinary fields. Currently, nearly 4,000 international students from over 130 countries are studying at Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2013, it was awarded the title of "First Batch of National Demonstration Bases for International Students in China" by the Ministry of Education . In 2024, the university passed the recertification of higher education quality for international students in China with the highest accreditation level (A+). In 2025, it will rank 10th in the Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Universities.
I. Eligibility for Application
1. Applicants must be no more than 25 years old (those under 18 years old may be represented by a power of attorney from their legal guardian) and in good health;
2. Holding a valid foreign passport;
3. High school diploma or above (applicants who have not yet graduated must provide a pre-graduation certificate, and must obtain their high school diploma no later than before enrollment);
4. Meet the corresponding language proficiency requirements.
l Chinese-taught programs: Proof of Chinese proficiency is required. Chinese proficiency should be equivalent to or above HSK Level 4. (Those whose Chinese proficiency does not meet the standard can choose to study in the preparatory program at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Only those who achieve Level 4 of the International Chinese Proficiency Standard after completing the preparatory program can enter undergraduate studies; those who do not meet the standard cannot enter professional studies. l English-taught programs: Submit proof of English proficiency. IELTS score of 6.0, TOEFL score of 80, Duolingo score of 110 or above, or other equivalent English proficiency certificate recognized by our school.
*Applicants whose native language is Chinese or English are exempt from submitting corresponding language proficiency certificates upon verification by our school.
5. It complies with the provisions of the Ministry of Education's document No. 12 of 2020 and the relevant regulations of our school.

1. Application Form for International Students of Xi'an Jiaotong University (Contact E-Square to create account);
2. A notarized copy of your high school diploma; for texts other than Chinese or English, an official notarized translation is required.Recent graduates should provide the original pre-graduation certificate issued by their school and submit the official document upon enrollment.
3. Academic transcripts. Transcripts for all high school courses and a notarized copy of the school's performance evaluation system. Documents other than Chinese or English must provide an official notarized translation. Transcripts from the student's country's standardized exams or internationally recognized standardized exams (such as A-Level, IBDP, etc.)
4. Proof of language proficiency (such as IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, HSK certificates, etc.; native speakers of Chinese/English are not required upon verification by our school);
5. Transcript of the “Undergraduate Entrance Academic Proficiency Test for International Students in China” (China Scholastic Competency Assessment (hereinafter referred to as “CSCA”);
6. Letter of recommendation. One letter, issued by the high school principal or teacher (the recommender must sign and include their email address and phone number);
7. Study plan. Write in Chinese or English, no less than 600 words;
8. A valid foreign passport (the passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of admission);
9. Original and notarized copy of the "Foreigner's Physical Examination Record" (This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and can be downloaded from http://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/2.pdf. It must be filled out in Chinese or English. Applicants should strictly follow the requirements of the form for examination. Forms with missing items, without a photo of the applicant or without a seal across the photo, or without a doctor's opinion and hospital signature and seal are invalid. The examination results are valid for 6 months).
10. A valid certificate of no criminal record;
11. Other supporting materials (if any).

IV. Application Process
1. Take the "Academic Proficiency Test for Undergraduate Entrance Examination in China"
All students applying to pursue undergraduate degrees in China must take the "Undergraduate Academic Proficiency Test for International Students" (CSCA) organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the Ministry of Education of China and submit valid transcripts. 2. Submit application online
Log in to the online registration system of the School of International Education, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and follow the prompts to complete the online application and upload your documents. There is no need to mail paper documents.

3. Pay the application fee to complete the application
After applicants submit their applications in our school system, our school will conduct a preliminary review. For those who pass the preliminary review, the system will open the registration fee payment. If the payment is completed in full and on time, the application will be completed.Application fees are non-refundable regardless of admission status.
4. Admission
The school will assess applicants through document review, CSCA, and interviews, and select the best candidates for admission. After completing your application, please monitor your application system and registered email address for updates on interviews, pre-admissions, tuition payment, and final admissions.
5. Registration
Admitted students must strictly follow the registration requirements outlined in their admission notice. Registration will take place in early September 2026, subject to the specific dates specified in the admission notice.
