Honda Malaysia has issued a product recall involving a total of 87,490 vehicles to replace fuel pump components as a precautionary safety measure. This move reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards for its customers.
According to an official press release, the recall addresses a potential defect in the fuel pump impeller, which may swell after prolonged immersion in fuel. This swelling could prevent the vehicle from starting or, in more severe cases, cause the engine to stall while driving. This issue affects 84,073 units across several models, including the Honda Jazz (2015–2020), Jazz Hybrid (2018), City (2014–2019), City Hybrid (2018–2019), Civic (2017–2018), Accord (2013–2017), BR-V (2017–2018), HR-V (2015–2018), CR-V (2018–2020), and Odyssey (2017–2019).

In addition to this, Honda Malaysia has also identified a separate issue involving the high-pressure fuel pump, which may crack due to prolonged and excessive stress. If this occurs, it could result in a fuel leak or the presence of a strong fuel odour during driving or while the vehicle is idling. This issue affects 3,417 units, specifically the 11th-generation Honda Civic (2023–2024) and the 6th-generation CR-V (2024).

All affected customers will receive notification letters containing details of the recall and instructions for arranging an appointment at any authorised Honda service centre. Customers may also verify if their vehicle is involved through the HondaTouch mobile application, by calling the Honda Malaysia toll-free number (1800-88-2020), or by visiting the official recall website at productrecall.honda.com.my.
The replacement of both the fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pump is free of charge, and all costs will be fully borne by Honda Malaysia. The availability of replacement parts will be carried out in stages, and the company urges customers to take prompt action once notified.
Honda Malaysia has reassured the public that all current production and selling models are not affected by this recall. Furthermore, the company has confirmed that the recall extends to vehicles whose warranty period has expired, underlining its proactive approach to customer safety and product reliability.
