A new feature in the MyJPJ allows you to share the digital road tax (e-LKM) of your car with other people as of right now. The transport ministry made this announcement as part of the next stage of its digitalization strategy, which also included modifications to the formats for driving licenses and road taxes.

Just sign into the MyJPJ app, select "Profile," then "Motor Vehicle Licence," to share your car's road tax with others. Enter the recipient's IC number and the amount of time the road tax will be shared by tapping the "Share LKM" button at the bottom of the page. You will see a security code that needs to be shared with the receiver.




To view the shared road tax, go to the recipient's "Profile" and reload the page. The road tax will be triggered and successfully shared after you tap on it and enter the security code. The ministry stated in an official statement that if the road tax isn't activated within a day, the system will erase all evidence of it being shared.

What would require you to take such action, now? Other people cannot access the digital road tax because it is linked to the owner of the vehicle's MyJPJ account. The road tax disc does not need to be visible on the windscreen thanks to this method.






If you were to lend someone else your car, there would be no way for the borrower to obtain your vehicle's road tax should the authorities ask for it—for example, during a roadblock. The borrower would have access to your car's road tax through the MyJPJ app thanks to the new sharing feature.

Instead, why not just utilize a screenshot of the digital road tax? Viewing the digital road tax on the MyJPJ app would be more "official" and prevent fraud, however it's feasible that a screenshot may be altered.
