The 2024 BMW X5, which has undergone a facelift (G05), looks to be preparing for its launch in Malaysia shortly, especially the X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.

162 units had been produced as of November 2023, with 93 units produced in November alone, according to data from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), suggesting that local production (CKD) in Kulim appears to be well under way. In comparison, the X5 xDrive45e, which was initially unveiled in June 2020, produced zero units during the previous month.

With a new generation 3.0-liter straight-six turbocharged engine and a more potent electric motor producing 197 PS/450 Nm on its own, the PHEV X5 xDrive50e can produce a maximum combined output of 490 PS/700 Nm.





With an enhanced capacity of 25.7 kWh (usable energy) in the high-voltage battery, the X5 PHEV can now drive an electric vehicle for 94 to 110 kilometers. The 7.4 kW charging capacity has also been enhanced.




Depending on the market, the 2024 X5's redesigned front end will come with an illuminated BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille in addition to reprofiled headlamps. Air is channeled around the fenders by vertical air vents located in the front bumper's broader bottom intake. Also updated are the graphics for the taillamps.



The 2024 X5 has a completely redesigned dashboard inside that holds the curved dual-widescreen display from BMW, which consists of a 14.9-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display behind the steering wheel. The display is enhanced by the most recent version of BMW Operating System 8.




The only locally produced (CKD) xDrive45e M Sport variant of the outgoing pre-facelift BMW X5 is still available for purchase in the nation for RM 491,800.
