According to reports, the American automaker is already finalizing preparations for the SUV model in China, meaning that the much-anticipated Tesla Model Y facelift, codenamed "Project Juniper," may officially arrive in less than nine months. A study published in Bloomberg suggests that mass manufacturing of the redesigned Tesla Model Y might begin as early as mid-2024.
Production of the first batch of the future Tesla Model Y "Juniper" is reportedly taking place at the "second phase" of Tesla's Shanghai production facility. Due to a partial update to the production plant, production will, however, be suspended for approximately one week over the New Year's holiday. Thus, prior to the corporation moving forward with mass production, more changes must be made.

Similar to the newly redesigned Tesla Model 3, which was introduced in Malaysia a few months ago, the future Model Y "Juniper" is anticipated to take cues from the Model 3 redesign.
The Model 3 "Highland" now boasts new wheels, a reworked front and rear fascia, a revised interior, a retuned suspension, and more sound-deadening material, among other improvements from Tesla. The redesigned Model 3 has also included some contentious design updates. This applies to the steering wheel's repositioned indicator buttons as well as the touch-sensitive gear selector on the central screen.

Along with Tesla's formal entrance in Malaysia, the current Model Y was introduced in July of this year. The Model Y is available in three different configurations: the base RWD, the Long Range Dual Motor AWD, and the top-tier Performance, with a starting price of RM199,000.
Customer deliveries for the SUV have not yet started for the Model Y, which is scheduled to ship in early 2024, despite having launched in Malaysia some months ahead of the Model 3 "Highland." In Malaysia, however, deliveries of the Model 3 "Highland" had started in late November of this year.
