According to a report by Bernama, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) intends to enhance its advocacy program regarding the significance of legal licenses for drivers and motorcyclists, particularly for school students.
According to JPJ director-general Datuk Rospiagus Taha, this initiative will involve getting 23,000 people between the ages of 16 and 35 to obtain their driver's licenses in less than six months. This will include kids who ride motorcycles to school with a license.
"We recognize the challenges faced by students who have to ride motorcycles to get to school, so we won't take legal action while we are in the advocacy phase. We will also concentrate on advocating on behalf of parents who allow children to use motorbikes or drive without a license, the JPJ director-general stated.
To increase public awareness of the requirement to possess a valid driver's license in order to operate a motor vehicle or ride one, Rospiagus suggested a methodical and focused campaigning approach.
The director-general of JPJ continued by expressing hope that initiatives like the JPJ Cadet Camp, in which students participated, would teach youth the value of operating a vehicle with a valid license and of obeying to traffic laws.
