In May, the all-new G60 generation BMW 5 Series and all-electric i5 made their global debuts. Registration of interest (ROI) for the all-new BMW i5 has been accessible in Malaysia since March of this year, prior to its global launch.

Despite the confirmation of specifications, prices for the BMW i5 in Malaysia have yet to be revealed. The outgoing G30 generation BMW 5 Series 530e M Sport plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model starts at RM360,800, while the 530i M Sport starts at RM410,800. This could be indicative of the price of the next all-new G60 generation BMW 530e, the specifications of which have yet to be revealed globally.
However, unlike the outgoing BMW 5 Series, the incoming all-electric BMW i5 will continue to enjoy EV tax savings upon arrival in Malaysia. If the status quo is maintained, the EV tax exemption will expire in 2025.

As a result, a more reasonable comparison point would be the BMW i4, which starts at RM273,800 for the eDrive35 model and goes up to RM445,800 for the top-of-the-line M50. Both prices include the brand's 5-year Extended Warranty & Service Package. Because the BMW i5 is positioned above the i4, we should expect its price to be higher.
Aside from all-electric BMW i5 models, the latest-generation G60 BMW 5 Series is also available with mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. However, no word on when these models of the all-new BMW 5 Series would be available in Malaysia.
