It has been long-rumored that Perodua will introduce a new B-segment small SUV, code-named "D66B," to sit above the Ativa in its model lineup. The model, said to be dubbed Perodua Nexis, is expected to launch as soon as the beginning of next year, according to a recent industry update study published by Kenanga Research.
There are currently few details available regarding the impending D66B model, although it is rumored to be based on the ASEAN Toyota Yaris Cross, which was introduced in Indonesia in June of this year.
The fourth-generation Toyota Vios and the Perodua Ativa and all-new Axia are also built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, which improves handling and safety and makes room for new electrified powertrains under the hood in the all-new Yaris Cross.

The ASEAN Toyota Yaris Cross is supported by a 2,620 mm long wheelbase and measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height. The Proton X50 and Honda HR-V are slightly larger than the B-segment SUV as a result.
The Toyota Yaris Cross is available in Indonesia in two different engine configurations: a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with 106 horsepower that is shared with the Toyota Vios, and a hybrid option with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that produces 111 horsepower (82 kW) in total.

17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, an electronic parking brake, a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and even a panoramic glass roof on the top-of-the-line S HV hybrid variant are just a few of the features available on the Yaris Cross in Indonesia.
We won't have to wait too long to hear more about Perodua's impending D66B B-segment SUV if the early-2024 debut window is accurate. As always, keep an eye on AutoBuzz.my for the most recent news regarding the Proton X50 competitor!
