Badminton player Aaron Bryan wins despite brief appearance as Malaysia takes three medals at worlds

In the World Junior Championships, Malaysian shuttlers Bryan Goonting and Aaron Tai, who were paired up just two months before the tournament, won a bronze medal in the boys' doubles category. They faced a tough match against Taiwan's Lai Po-yu and Tsai Fu-cheng, eventually losing with scores of 18-21, 21-15, 14-21. This achievement marked the first time a boys' doubles pair from Malaysia had won a medal in the World Juniors since 2011.

After winning the bronze, Aaron expressed his satisfaction, especially since it was Bryan's last world juniors tournament. Aaron will return to playing with his original partner, Kang Khai Xing, in junior competitions, while Bryan, who is 18 years old, will focus on senior tournaments with Choi Jian Sheng.

Additionally, in the mixed doubles category, the pair of Low Han Chen and Chong Jie Yu from Malaysia also secured a bronze medal. They faced tough opponents in Zhu Yijun and Huang Kexing from China, losing with scores of 14-21, 14-21.

These achievements by Bryan-Aaron and Han Chen-Jie Yu were significant for Malaysian badminton, and they were also part of the team that won a bronze medal in the mixed team event.

These bronze medals were a redemption for the Malaysian junior team, as they had returned empty-handed from the Asian Junior meet in Yogyakarta in July. Furthermore, these medals marked the first time Malaysia had won medals in both the World and Asian Junior meets since 2018.
