The Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V, the company's first hybridized Hilux, was recently unveiled. As the name implies, the pickup truck has a 48V mild hybrid powertrain. A 2.8-liter, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine with a variable nozzle turbocharger, water-cooled intercooler, and common rail fuel injection system makes up the hybrid system.
Next, a 48V lithium battery that is located under the back seats and a motor generator that runs on a belt system are connected to the mill. In stand-alone mode, the electric motor generates 16 horsepower and 65 Nm. The system output is rated at 500 Nm and 204 horsepower when combined with the turbodiesel engine.

Better belt material and a new two-arm tensioner are further features that help to improve driving comfort and ride quietness. HVO100 diesel, a non-fossil fuel derived entirely from renewable resources, is also compatible with the Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V. Included are exhaust emissions reduction techniques including Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Urea Additional Injection, Diesel Oxidization Catalyst, and Diesel Particulate Filter.
To further improve performance and control, Toyota also added a new Multi-terrain Select system to the Hilux Hybrid. This is accomplished by allowing the driver to modify the stability control settings of the vehicle based on the unique driving circumstances. The driver can select one of the five pre-set options (Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, or Rock) or leave it on an automatic setting.

Furthermore, the Hilux Hybrid 48V has excellent water-crossing ability. Its 48V battery and DC-DC converter are waterproof, allowing it to drive through water up to 700 mm deep with just 310 mm of ground clearance.
The Hilux Hybrid 48V's towing and payload capacities, which stand at 3,500 kg and 1,000 kg, respectively, despite being a hybrid car.

The newest version of the Toyota Safety Sense suite is installed on the Hilux Hybrid 48V for further safety. Pre-collision system (PCS), lane departure alert (LDA), and adaptive cruise control (ACC) with road sign assistance (RSA) are some of the features included in this.
In the middle of 2024, the Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V is expected to arrive in Europe. Its launch in the Australian market has also been confirmed.
