Did you know?
- About one-fourth of those infected with Dengue will show symptoms, ranging from mild to severe.
- Approximately one in twenty Dengue infections will be severe.
- Those who have had Dengue before are more prone to severe cases.
- Infants and pregnant women have a higher risk of severe Dengue.
- Dengue does not spread from person to person; infection occurs only when bitten by an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.
- Severe cases of Dengue can lead to shock and bleeding (internal bleeding); immediate medical help is crucial.
What are the symptoms of Dengue?
Here are the symptoms to watch for:
- Sudden high fever (40°C/104°F)
- Severe, throbbing headaches
- Pain behind the eyes
- Muscle and joint pain
- Nausea and vomiting
- Swollen glands
- Skin rash
Symptoms typically last for 2-7 days (febrile phase), and most people recover from Dengue within a week.
In severe cases, symptoms of Dengue include:
- Bleeding from the mouth/gums/nose
- Sticky, wet skin
- Internal bleeding leading to black vomit and stools
- Abdominal pain
- Appearance of small blood spots under the skin
- Weak pulse
What to do if you suspect Dengue infection?
Take the following steps for recovery:
1. If you experience symptoms and suspect Dengue, the first thing to do is see a doctor.
2. Your doctor may advise you to rest in bed as much as possible.
3. Your doctor may prescribe paracetamol to help reduce fever and alleviate pain. Reminder: Do not take aspirin and ibuprofen!
4. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water to replenish fluids. Be cautious of signs of dehydration.
5. If you are unable to drive, have a family member or friend drive you to the nearest hospital.
Preventive measures should also be taken to avoid further mosquito bites and minimize the risk of transmission:
1. Clean the surrounding environment to prevent mosquito breeding.
2. Wear clothing that covers as much of your body as possible.
3. Use insect repellent, sleep under a mosquito net, keep doors and windows closed, or ensure they are fitted with mosquito screens.
Preventive measures: When the fever subsides, be vigilant for warning signs within 3-7 days of the onset of symptoms. Some patients may progress to severe Dengue, which is a medical emergency.
Platelet Count
The platelet count is the most commonly used data when observing the condition of Dengue. In normal circumstances, the normal range for platelets is between 125 and 320 ×10^9/L.
When platelets are less than 50×10^9/L, there is a risk of skin and mucous membrane bleeding; less than 20×10^9/L poses a high risk of spontaneous bleeding; and below 10×10^9/L, there is an extremely high risk, even the possibility of life-threatening danger.
In 2019, among the customers of the Miracle Medicine's Porcupine Date, 348 had Dengue. There were 168 with platelet counts above 100, 113 with counts above 50, and 67 with counts below 20.
As is well known, Porcupine Date's main efficacy lies in clearing heat and toxins, boosting the immune system, making it the best remedy for Dengue. Porcupine Date can rapidly increase the platelets of Dengue patients. With nearly 20 years of experience, Miracle Medicine recommends the required dosage and Porcupine Date grade based on the patient's condition.
For most patients following our recommendations, the platelet count is expected to rise, achieving a 100% recovery rate.
