SEREMBAN, May 14 — The Negeri Sembilan state government has announced a 20% rental reduction for tenants occupying premises owned by local authorities (PBT) across the state. The initiative will run from June until December this year and is expected to cost the government approximately RM1.4 million.
Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun stated that the reduction would benefit 5,199 tenants under several local councils, including Seremban City Council (MBS), Port Dickson Municipal Council (MPPD), Jempol Municipal Council, Tampin District Council, Kuala Pilah District Council, Rembau District Council, and Jelebu District Council.
According to him, the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden faced by tenants while encouraging local economic growth and business activities throughout the state.
In another development, Aminuddin explained that several state executive council portfolios that are currently vacant will temporarily be managed by existing executive councillors. Further announcements regarding the restructuring are expected next week.
The issue arose after 14 Barisan Nasional assemblymen reportedly lost confidence in the Menteri Besar, leading to the removal of four executive councillors from their positions. The affected leaders were Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, Datuk Ismail Lasim, Datuk Mustapha Nagoor, and Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli, each previously overseeing important state portfolios.
Additionally, Aminuddin shared positive news regarding sports development in Negeri Sembilan. Negeri Sembilan FC has entered a three-year partnership with local nutrition brand NE-G as the club’s official energy gel partner.
The collaboration is intended to strengthen the club’s sports science and athletic performance by providing energy nutrition support to players, helping them maintain optimum stamina during matches and training sessions.
