Kylie Minogue drew a massive crowd at Battersea Power Station on Nov 13 when she lit the development’s 40-foot Christmas tree in Malaysia Square and illuminated all four of the landmark’s iconic chimneys, officially marking the start of its 2025 festive celebrations.
According to Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), the pop icon made a surprise appearance on stage, leading a lively countdown before switching on thousands of lights across Electric Boulevard and the Power Station’s distinctive skyline.
The Battersea Power Station Community Choir added to the evening’s charm with a medley of Kylie Christmas classics such as Let It Snow, Santa Baby, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) Pop-Up Arrives Dec 5–7
The lighting ceremony kicks off a month-long festive programme, including a special Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped) pop-up shop celebrating the 10th anniversary of her holiday album. Running from Dec 5 to 7, the pop-up will be located at the North Atrium’s Upper Ground Floor.
Fans can look forward to exclusive gifts such as limited-edition vinyl, signed test presses, lithographs, bespoke Christmas baubles, winter apparel, Kylie merchandise, Limited Edition Kylie Minogue Wine, and the official 2026 calendar.
Kylie shared her excitement, saying:
“It’s been such a magical night at the iconic Battersea Power Station. I loved turning on the Christmas lights and seeing everyone in the festive spirit. I can’t wait for fans to discover all the treats at the Kylie Christmas pop-up!”
Battersea Turns Into a Winter Wonderland
This year, the development has been transformed into a full winter wonderland featuring:
-
More than 100 Christmas trees
-
11 giant stacked baubles
-
20 oversized candy canes
-
9km of fairy lights outdoors
-
Eight lorry-loads of festive décor inside the Grade II listed Power Station
Visitors can also enjoy a range of leisure attractions, including over 150 shops, restaurants, bars and the return of Boots presents Glide at Battersea Power Station—London’s only riverside ice rink—which now includes a brand-new skate trail and is open until Jan 4, 2026.
BPSDC interim CEO Sam Cotton said Kylie’s presence captured the development’s festive spirit:
“Battersea Power Station is at its most magical during Christmas. We’re thrilled to have Kylie kick off our celebrations and bring people together to create memorable experiences.”
Relevance to Malaysian Property Market Trends
International placemaking efforts like those at Battersea Power Station continue to inspire Malaysian developers, especially in high-density urban hubs such as KLCC, Bukit Jalil and Subang. As investors evaluate opportunities in commercial property in KL, office space in Bukit Jalil, industrial land in Selangor, factory investments in Puchong or industrial property in the Subang area, destination-driven development and experiential retail increasingly shape long-term value creation.
