PUTRAJAYA (Nov 14): Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud has been appointed as the new mayor of Kuala Lumpur, effective Saturday, replacing Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif. The appointment was confirmed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
According to the ministry, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, consented to Fadlun’s appointment under Subsection 4(2) of the Federal Capital Act 1960.
Experienced Urban Planner to Lead Malaysia’s Capital
Fadlun, 58, holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and brings more than 28 years of experience in urban planning, regional development and city management.

Dr Zaliha noted that Fadlun’s leadership has been defined by strategic execution and forward-thinking city governance.

Fadlun also serves as a member of the Board of Town Planners, a fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Planners, and is actively involved in global urban development forums — positioning him as a visionary planner well-suited to guide Kuala Lumpur’s next phase of transformation.
Dr Zaliha expressed confidence that Fadlun will:

His leadership is expected to influence wider property and urban development trends, particularly across Greater KL’s high-demand zones such as commercial property in KL, transit-linked office space in Bukit Jalil, and expanding logistics corridors connected to factory developments in Puchong, industrial land in Selangor, and industrial property in the Subang area.
Appreciation for Outgoing Mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif
Dr Zaliha also thanked Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif for her extensive contributions throughout her tenure. Under Maimunah’s leadership, DBKL strengthened its fiscal performance, sustainability initiatives and international partnerships.
Maimunah will assume her new role as property adviser at Petronas, where she will guide the company’s strategic development plans, including major assets and upcoming landmark projects within Kuala Lumpur.
Her term officially ends on Friday, followed by her commencement at Petronas on Nov 17.
