What Is EMS?

Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is the process of causing muscle contractions using an external electrical charge or pulse, usually created by an EMS machine.

How Does It Work?

Electrodes are placed on the skin over the muscle you want to exercise. An electrical charge is sent into the muscle, stimulating the muscle fibers and causing a contraction.

This is the same action muscles experience during exercise and movement. Essentially, EMS exercises your muscles by sending signals that cause them to contract, just as your body does naturally.

When Do We Use EMS?

EMS is primarily used for muscle pain relief and rehabilitation. It helps reduce muscle spasms and edema (swelling), which are common causes of pain, discomfort, and reduced function.

Additionally, EMS supports the healing process by improving blood circulation, promoting muscle activation, and enhancing range of motion.

We commonly use EMS if you:

  • Experience muscle spasms

  • Have poor blood circulation

  • Suffer from muscle atrophy due to inactivity or disuse

  • Have a limited range of motion following an injury

  • Have recently undergone surgery and require the prevention of venous thrombosis
