Lockout Tagout Training

12-Sep-2025

Lockout Tagout (LOTO) is a critical safety procedure designed to protect workers from hazardous energy during servicing, maintenance, or inspection of machinery. It prevents accidental start-up, serious injuries, and fatalities by isolating energy sources and applying locks and tags. LOTO is required whenever employees work on equipment with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, chemical, or other energy risks. The standard SOP involves preparation, shutdown, isolation, lock and tag application, release of stored energy, verification, safe work, and controlled removal of locks/tags. Training ensures that authorized employees perform LOTO correctly, affected employees understand its importance, and supervisors enforce compliance.
