Basic Information

• Program Duration: 4 years

Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport and have completed high school education (or equivalent).

2. Applicants who were originally citizens of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan but have obtained foreign nationality after immigration, or whose parents are Chinese citizens settled abroad and the applicant has foreign nationality at birth, must meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education Document No. 12 (2020).

3. Language requirements:

   • For programs taught in Chinese (except those otherwise specified): HSK Level 5 with a minimum score of 180.

   • For programs under the International Chinese Culture College or Design School (taught in Chinese): HSK Level 4 with a minimum score of 180.

   • For programs taught in English: Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following:

     • IELTS 6.0 or above

     • TOEFL 85 or above

     • Cambridge English B2 or above

4. Applicants must provide the China Studies for College Admission (CSCA) test results (required subjects vary by major; see the program catalog for details).

5. Applicants under 18 years old must submit a Guardian’s Guarantee Letter. If the applicant’s parents are not residing in China, they must authorize a resident foreigner or Chinese citizen living in China as the legal guardian.

Application Documents

1. ECNU International Student Application Form
   Fill out the online application form through ECNU’s application system (E-Square will assist in creating an account) and pay a non-refundable application fee of RMB 800.

2. High School Graduation Certificate
   Scanned copy of the original document. Non-Chinese/English versions must include notarized Chinese or English translations.

   • Current students should provide a Pre-graduation Certificate (expected graduation before August 31, 2026).

   • Admitted students must present the original diploma upon registration.

3. Official High School Transcripts
   Non-Chinese/English versions must be accompanied by notarized translations.

4. Language Proficiency Proof

   • For Chinese-taught programs: valid HSK certificate (issued within 2 years).

   • For English-taught programs: IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL 85 / Cambridge English B2 or higher.

   • Exemption from English proof applies if:

     1. English is an official or native language of the applicant’s country; or

     2. Applicant can provide equivalent proof recognized by ECNU.

5. CSCA Test Result Certificate
   (See official CSCA website www.csca.cn for registration details and subject requirements by program.)

6. Personal Statement (500–800 words)
   Written in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs; otherwise, English is acceptable.

7. Passport Copy
   Including personal information page and all China visa pages.

8. Guardian’s Guarantee Letter (for applicants under 18).

9. Additional Documents for Former Chinese Citizens or Those with Chinese Parents:

   • Entry and exit stamps from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan for the past four years (up to April 30, 2026).

Note: ECNU only conducts a preliminary qualification check based on submitted materials. Admission or student status will be revoked if nationalities or visa types fail verification by relevant Chinese authorities.

Additional Documents for Scholarship Applicants

1. Medical Examination Report (within six months)
   Must strictly follow the Foreigner Physical Examination Form requirements and include detailed blood test results, physician’s signature, and hospital seal.

2. Non-criminal Record Certificate
   Non-Chinese/English versions must include notarized translations.

Additional Materials for Art and Music Programs

• School of Fine Arts: Applicants must submit recent original artworks.

• School of Music: Applicants must submit recent performance or recital videos.

Important Notes

1. Only complete and valid applications submitted through the ECNU online system before the deadline will be reviewed.

   • Incomplete or improperly submitted materials (email/WeChat submissions are not accepted) will not be processed.

   • Application materials and fees are non-refundable regardless of admission results.

2. Each applicant may only apply for one program per submission. If unsuccessful, a second application may be submitted with a new application fee.

Application Procedure

1. Online Application
   Register and complete your application through ECNU’s Online System (E-Square will assist with account setup). Upload required documents and pay the application fee of RMB 800.
   Applicants for scholarships must also apply through the relevant scholarship platforms (refer to the scholarship guide).

2. Entrance Assessment (Interview or Written Test)
   Applicants will be notified by email. Please ensure your email address is accurate and active.

3. Track Your Application
   Check your email and ECNU application account regularly for updates and results.

4. Admission and Registration
   Admitted students can check results through the ECNU system.
   Students must register in person within the time specified in the Admission Notice and present the original graduation certificate for verification.
   Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of admission.

Important: Tuition payment deadline for self-funded students: July 31, 2026.
