1. Eligibility
1. Hold a foreign ordinary passport; high school graduate or above, physically and mentally healthy.
2. Aged 16 or above. Applicants who are under 18 before August 31 of the year of application must provide a letter of guarantee from an adult guardian of Chinese or foreign nationality who resides in China ( download the template of the letter of guarantee from the download center ).
3. In accordance with the provisions of the document "Jiaowai Han [ 2020 ] No. 12 " of the Ministry of Education of China: If the applicant is a resident of mainland China (mainland), Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who has immigrated and obtained foreign nationality, or both or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen and resides in a foreign country, and the applicant has foreign nationality at birth, in addition to meeting the school's other registration qualifications, he or she must also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for 4 years (inclusive) or more, and has actually lived abroad for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (before April 30 of the year of admission ) (actual residence abroad for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, based on the entry and exit stamps).
4. Language proficiency requirements:
Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must have an HSK level 4 (190 points or above for science and engineering, 210 points or above for liberal arts and business , with 60 points or above for writing) or above . Applicants who can provide proof of Chinese-taught programs in their previous academic period are exempt from submitting an HSK certificate.
Applicants for English-taught programs must have a TOEFL score of 80 (inclusive), IELTS 6.0 (inclusive) or Duolingo 105 (inclusive) or above. Applicants who can provide proof of English-taught programs in their previous academic period or whose native language is English are exempt from submitting proof of English language proficiency.
2. Application Period
Scholarship Application : November 15 , 2024 to April 15 , 2025 .
Self -funded applications : November 15 , 2024 to July 20 , 2025 .

IV. Application Process
1. Apply online. Contact E-Square to get official account and follow the system prompts to complete and submit.
* You only need to apply once, do not apply again.
2. Pay the application fee online. If you are unable to pay online, you will need to remit the application fee to our designated bank account and send a scanned copy of the remittance receipt to cie@ecust.edu.cn.
* Applications that have not paid the registration fee will be invalid. The registration fee is non-refundable once paid.
5. Scholarship Application
1. Chinese Government Scholarship ( Type A , only for programs taught in Chinese)
Bilateral projects between countries and various special scholarships: China - EU student exchange program, unilateral awards, special scholarships for Chinese and American degree students, Pacific Islands Forum projects, etc.
( 1 ) Submit an application to the sending department of your country (or the scholarship management agency of the project) and obtain recommendation qualification;
( 2 ) Contact our school to request a pre-admission letter;
( 3 ) Log in to the " Chinese Government Scholarship Management Information System " to submit your application information. Select East China University of Science and Technology in " Apply to School I " . Complete the application to the relevant department as required within the specified time and download the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form".
2. Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship ( B level, only for Chinese-taught courses)
Log in to the "Shanghai Government Scholarship Online Application System" , select "East China University of Science and Technology" and submit the relevant application information as required.

3. Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship ( 1+4 Program, Chinese-taught courses only)
No need to apply separately, just check the box when registering in the system.
4. East China University of Science and Technology President Scholarship
No need to apply separately, just check the box when registering in the system.
* For the application details and requirements of Chinese Government Scholarship Category A , please refer to the Chinese Government Scholarship website and the notification of the local sending department.
* Application details for Shanghai Government Scholarship B , 1+4 Program and East China University of Science and Technology President Scholarship will be announced separately.
6. Application Materials
1. A valid ordinary passport photo page ( valid until September 1, 2026 and later ).
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
** For high school graduates, their school will issue a certificate of expected graduation. If admitted, they must provide a scanned copy of their graduation certificate before registration.
3. Transcripts of all high school courses or internationally accepted standardized test scores ( A-LEVEL/IB/IGCSE/AP/SAT/ACT/BC/UEC/STPM , etc.)
4. Proof of Chinese or English proficiency (language scores are valid for two years and must be within the validity period at the time of application)
5. Personal statement: more than 600 words, including personal and family situation, reasons for choosing the school and major, etc.; applicants for Chinese-taught programs should write it in Chinese, and applicants for English-taught programs should write it in English.
6. Certificate of no criminal record. If your country cannot issue a certificate of no criminal record, you can sign a letter of commitment to no criminal record; if you are currently studying in China, you can submit a certificate of no bad behavior during your studies.
7. Proof of financial guarantee.
8. A copy of the physical examination form for foreigners. Those who currently reside in mainland China and hold a valid "Foreigner Residence Permit" or "Foreigner Permanent Residence Identity Card" can use the above two materials instead of this form.
9. Other auxiliary application materials (students applying for design majors are required to provide at least one piece of art work)

** For certificates in languages other than Chinese or English, a notarized original of the Chinese or English translation is required.
In addition to the above application materials, additional materials are required. Regardless of whether the application is successful or not, the application materials will not be returned.
VII. Review and Admission
1. Our university adheres to the principles of fairness, justice and openness, and adopts the "application - review system" to select international undergraduate students.
2. Applicants can check their application status through the ECUST International Student Online Service System. During the application process, the funding status of all students will be displayed as " self-funded " .
3. The list of admitted students of various scholarships will be announced on the college website before July 31 , 2025. Our school will issue admission notices and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China to the applicants who are finally admitted.
8. Notes
1. Applicants must ensure that the application information and materials they provide are true and accurate. If the information and materials are found to be untrue by the admissions unit or certification department, they will not be admitted or their study qualifications will be cancelled.
2. After admission and payment, the school will provide relevant documents for applying for a study visa to China.
3. After being admitted, students cannot register for two schools at the same time. Once verified, their student status will be cancelled.
4. You must complete the registration and registration procedures according to the time specified by the school. If you fail to register without approval, you will be deemed to have automatically given up your student status and your scholarship will be automatically cancelled.
5. When you register for the fall semester, please bring original copies of relevant certificates and supporting documents for inspection.
