TCM Undergraduate Program (5-Year Program)
1. Program Objective
This program aims to cultivate TCM practitioners who are passionate about Traditional Chinese Medicine, capable of systematically mastering TCM basic theories, professional knowledge, and practical skills, with good professional ethics and strong self-learning abilities.
2. Main Courses
TCM Basic Theory, TCM Diagnostics, Chinese Materia Medica, Prescription Science, Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Basic Diagnostics, Western Internal Medicine, TCM Internal Medicine, TCM Surgery, TCM Gynecology, TCM Pediatrics, Acupuncture, Tuina, Medical Chinese, Medical Ethics, etc.
Throughout the learning process, teachers will employ various teaching methods including classroom lectures, group discussions, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), bedside teaching, simulation demonstrations, skill training, and social practice, based on teaching content and actual conditions. Theoretical courses are mainly conducted at the Shanghai University of TCM campus, while clinical practice is completed at the university's teaching hospitals.
3. Graduation and Degree Award
Students who complete the courses specified in the "Guiding Teaching Plan," pass examinations, and meet the required credits will be granted graduation. Those applying for a bachelor's degree must also meet the required GPA, pass all comprehensive examinations, and achieve HSK Level 5 ¡Ý180 points or Level 4 ¡Ý210 points (except for ethnic Chinese). Upon approval by the university's degree committee, they will be awarded a Bachelor of Medicine degree.

7. Admission Requirements
- High school or higher education diploma; For A-Level, IB, or AP courses, transcripts must be provided and approved.
- HSK Level 4 ¡Ý180 points (except for ethnic Chinese).
- For Chinese citizens (including those from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) who have immigrated to foreign countries and are applying as international students, they must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least 4 years, with a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (before April 30, 2025). (9 months of actual residence abroad in a year can be counted as one year, based on entry and exit stamps).
- Age generally between 16 and 65 years old.
8. Fee Structure
- Application Fee: 450 RMB per person (actual amount received)
- Tuition: 28,000 RMB per year
- Textbooks: Students purchase as needed
- Accommodation:
- On-campus: Please refer to "2024 International Student On-campus Accommodation Information" (current accommodation fee standards, for reference only). Dormitory arrangements will be notified to students in mid-July 2025 based on the university's overall dormitory arrangement. If accommodation fees change, the 2025 standards will apply.
- Off-campus: Students may arrange their own accommodation with school approval, at their own expense.
9. Application Materials
- Passport first page (valid for at least 6 months from application date)
- High school or higher education diploma and transcripts, or A-Level/IB/AP course transcripts
- HSK certificate (except for ethnic Chinese)
- Criminal record certificate (can sign a criminal record commitment with the school)
- Financial guarantee certificate (can provide bank deposit certificate covering tuition and living expenses during study in China; or provide relevant movable/immovable property certificates; can sign a financial guarantee certificate with the school)
- Application fee payment receipt or payment screenshot
- Digital photo:
- File name and format: Chinese name, jpg format
- Image requirements: White or blue background, front-facing photo without hat; 3.5*5.4 cm; 626*413 pixels; file size: 100-500K
10. Application Notes
- All application materials must be accurately completed and uploaded according to online application requirements. Please contact E-Square teacher for detailed application guidance. Materials not specifically required can be uploaded in the "Additional Materials" section.
- Please provide accurate information about the financial guarantor.
- For bank transfer payments, please note the applicant's passport name and application number in the payment remarks. For online transfers, please keep the payment success screenshot and write the applicant's passport name and application number on it. Alipay or WeChat payment methods are not available during the application stage. Application fees are non-refundable for incomplete applications, rejected applications, or voluntary withdrawal.
- Color weakness and color blindness are not suitable for application; Applicants with corrected vision (with glasses or orthokeratology lenses) worse than 4.8 with lens power over 800 degrees in either eye, or one blind eye with the other eye corrected to 4.8 with lens power over 400 degrees, or hearing within 3 meters in both ears, or one ear hearing within 5 meters and the other completely deaf, or with strabismus, impaired smell, or stuttering, are not suitable for application. If you have chronic diseases that may affect admission, please confirm with the school before submitting application materials.
- The university uses document review to determine admission. After receiving application materials, the university's admissions working group will review and send the Admission Notice to qualified applicants.
- Chinese Government Scholarship applicants must submit the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form"; Shanghai Government Scholarship applicants must submit the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form".
- Admitted students must bring original application materials and health examination certificates for verification upon registration. If found inconsistent with application materials, the university reserves the right to cancel admission.
- According to national policy: The university implements a comprehensive insurance system for international students. Students must purchase insurance upon arrival, with each insurance period lasting one year. Students who fail to pay the insurance premium (800 RMB per year) according to national regulations will not be registered or will be dismissed.
11. Scholarships
- Chinese Government Scholarship
- All scholarship applicants must pass the undergraduate academic level test for studying in China.
- Students applying for Chinese Government Scholarship Category A through Chinese embassies in various countries can contact the university's International Education College Admissions Office to obtain a "Pre-admission Notice" if applying to our university as their first choice. Students directly recommended by our university for Chinese Government Scholarship Category B do not need a "Pre-admission Notice".
