SIRIM (Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia) is Malaysia’s official agency for product quality and safety certification.

• Applicable for household appliances, electronics, wireless devices, etc.
• Ensures products meet Malaysia’s safety standards.
• Without SIRIM, your goods may face customs detention or even be returned.

CIDB Certification (For Building Materials)

CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) ensures that building projects and materials comply with Malaysia’s national standards.

• Enhances the safety, sustainability, and professionalism of the construction industry.
• Without CIDB certification, building materials may not legally enter Malaysia’s market.

How to Apply for SIRIM and CIDB Certification?

There are two ways to apply for these certifications:

Method 1: Through Certified Shipping Channels

• Work with certified local companies: Transfer your goods to a company with the necessary certifications to handle customs clearance and sales.
• Choose experienced logistics partners: They can assist with the certification application and ensure smooth customs clearance.
• Pre-check product requirements: Confirm with your freight forwarder which products need certifications and which are exempt to avoid unnecessary trouble.

• Online application: Both SIRIM and CIDB have official websites for certification applications.
• Prepare documents and samples: You’ll need to submit relevant paperwork, product samples, and pay related fees.
• Safety testing: Product samples will undergo safety tests to ensure compliance.

Important Notes from Freight Forwarders

• Electronics without SIRIM certification cannot be sold directly in Malaysia and may result in fines or confiscation.
