Penang,George Town,Taman Kampar - SSL CERTIFICATES
08-Apr-2024
Genesis Tech provides SSL Certificates, which are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization's details. When installed on a web server, an SSL Certificate activates the padlock and the https protocol, enabling secure connections from the web server to a browser. SSL is commonly used to secure credit card transactions, data transfers, logins, and browsing of social media sites.
SSL Certificates bind together:
- A domain name, server name, or hostname.
- An organizational identity (e.g., company name) and location.
To initiate a secure session with browsers, an organization needs to install the SSL Certificate onto its web server. Once a secure connection is established, all web traffic between the web server and the web browser will be secure.
When a certificate is successfully installed, the application protocol (HTTP) changes to HTTPS, where the 'S' stands for 'secure'. Depending on the type of certificate and the browser used, a padlock or green bar will be displayed in the browser when visiting a website with an SSL Certificate installed.
SSL Certificates use Public Key Cryptography, which involves two keys: a private key and a public key. The public key encrypts messages, while the private key decrypts them. This ensures that only the intended recipient can read the message.
Benefits of SSL Certificates include:
- Protection of sensitive information such as credit card details, usernames, and passwords.
- Secure data transmission between servers.
- Increased Google rankings.
- Enhanced customer trust.
- Improved conversion rates.
You can tell if a website is using SSL if a padlock is displayed or if the URL begins with HTTPS instead of HTTP.
SSL is crucial for encrypting data transmissions, ensuring server authentication, and maintaining data integrity. It can be used to secure online transactions, intranet-based traffic, webmail servers, file transfers, system logins, and more.
