Tropicana supports NEWSWAV, No 1 content aggregator in Malaysia

The Grand Ballroom at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort came alive on October 1 as close to 150 creators, partners, and special guests gathered for the Newswav Creator Awards 2025. It was a night filled with celebration, laughter, and plenty of inspiration – a true reflection of Malaysia’s thriving creator community.

The night brought together a mix of familiar names and rising voices from the Newswav Creator community.

Malek Ali, Founder of BFM Radio, joined us on stage as one of the award presenters, while well-known Wavmakers like R. Nadeswaran (Citizen Nades), comic artists Ernest Ng (Don’t Like That Bro) and Daniel Mok (Mokumentary), personal finance creator Fong Wei Ziet (Ziet Invests), and the team behind 后起之秀 Podcast were among those who attended.

Academic partners including INTI International University & Colleges, INTI International College Subang, Taylor’s University, and Asia Pacific University (APU) were also in attendance, reinforcing the strong ties between education and the creator ecosystem.
 

The CEO’s Speech

One of the evening’s highlights was the speech by Newswav CEO, Janice Chin. In her address, she:

• Shared a quick recap of Newswav’s journey, from its early growth to becoming a platform trusted by millions of readers.
• Painted a picture of who Newswav’s users and creators are, giving the audience a better sense of the community they belong to.
• Offered a fun “cheat sheet” of the tactics used by some winners.
• Answered selected questions submitted by creators.
• Looked ahead to what’s new in 2025, and gave a sneak peek into 2026, which promises more AI-powered enhancements and new monetization opportunities, especially for video creators.

Her engaging and relatable delivery kept the room tuned in, blending gratitude with excitement for the future.

Between the awards and speeches, guests were treated to a 16-dish halal-certified fusion buffet, featuring everything from cold abalone slices, daging masak rendang, steamed sea bass and French pastries to crowd-pleasers like satay, apam balik, and an ABC dessert station.

The lucky draw had the ballroom buzzing with anticipation, with prizes including HABIB Gold Wafer Coins, POH KONG Gold Wafer Coin, HAVIT Portable Neck Massager and Montigo Sense Coffee Cups.

One of the most memorable moments came during the Q&A session at the end, where attendees battled it out in a lively game-style format to win Fisher-Price goodies. The ballroom echoed with laughter as everyone joined in the spirited competition.
