Step into a world of rich heritage and indulgent flavours this May at Pullman KLCC’s Sedap Restaurant, where the spirit of Peranakan cuisine is celebrated in spectacular fashion. Running from 8 May to 1 June 2025, the "Peranakan on Plate – Baba Nyonya Dinner Buffet" is a culinary journey not to be missed—especially for fans of Nyonya cuisine.

I had the pleasure of dining there just last evening, and the experience was nothing short of exquisite. From the moment you enter Sedap Restaurant, the ambience warmly embraces you. It’s a perfect setting that fuses elegance with cultural charm, creating a mood that complements the vibrant dishes on offer.

What sets this buffet apart is the special curation by the talented Madam Florence Tan Luan Neo, a Nyonya food expert and cookbook author. Her creations are the stars of the night, rich with tradition, stories, and flavours passed down through generations. I had the honour of meeting Madam Luan Neo during her live demonstration of Ayam Pongteh served with Lotus Leaf Bun—a heart-warming moment made even more delightful by her soft-spoken, graceful presence.

Among the dishes that completely won me over was the Itek Tim Soup—a traditional double-boiled duck broth with salted vegetables. Its depth of flavour soothed and delighted in equal measure. Another standout was the Pai Tee—crisp pastry “top hats” brimming with crunchy sliced vegetables. They were so addictive I couldn’t help but go for second and third servings.

The Ngo Hiang Lobak, a five-spice meat roll wrapped in bean curd skin, stood out for its perfectly layered texture and aromatic punch—every bite was a revelation.

But the magic didn’t stop at Peranakan fare. The buffet also offers Japanese and fusion selections, with fresh sashimi, seafood on ice—especially the tiger prawns and half-shell scallops, both remarkably fresh—and a selection of local and international delights to suit every palate.

  • Soups: Itek Tim, Sup Ayam Nyonya
