How many types of taxes are there in Malaysia?

Goods and Services Tax (GST)
Malaysia previously implemented the Goods and Services Tax (GST), but it was abolished at the end of 2018. It was replaced by the Sales and Service Tax (SST). SST primarily applies to the sale of certain goods and services.

Income Tax
Malaysia has income tax for both individuals and businesses. This includes personal income tax, corporate income tax, and related tax types.

Value Added Tax (VAT)
In addition to GST (which has been abolished), certain specific goods and services may still be subject to a value-added tax.

Property Tax
Property tax in Malaysia is applicable to real estate transactions, including property sales and leases.

Stamp Duty
Stamp duty is imposed on legal documents and financial transactions, such as bonds and contracts.

Tourism Tax
Certain travel and tourism services may require the payment of a tourism tax.

Export and Import Duties
Imported and exported goods may be subject to specific customs duties and import taxes.

Vehicle Tax
Owning and using vehicles such as cars may require the payment of vehicle taxes.
