OTA Update Brings Android Auto to Proton e.MAS 7

30-Dec-2025

Owners of the Proton e.MAS 7 are finally starting to receive Android Auto, according to members of the Proton e.MAS 7 Community Malaysia Facebook group, who shared that the feature is arriving via an over-the-air (OTA) software update. This update follows Proton’s earlier roadmap and is part of the Q4 2025 update, carrying the software version Flyme Auto S 1.2.0, which adds Android Auto support in both wired and wireless forms.

Besides Android Auto, the update also brings several improvements, including better screen brightness control, improved Malay language translations, and system optimisations to make the vehicle run more smoothly and stably. Based on owner feedback, the update rollout appears to be staggered, meaning not all vehicles receive it at the same time. This may explain why PRO-NET has yet to make an official announcement, although some owners have successfully updated their cars at Proton e.MAS service centres.

This update is part of Proton’s regular software update plan for 2025. Earlier updates focused on fixing software bugs, improving charging and driving performance (including ABS tuning), adding support for more third-party apps, and introducing new low-speed pedestrian warning sounds, with an option to turn them off. Apple CarPlay support was already added in July 2025.

At the moment, there is no official information on the 2026 software roadmap, but Proton has stated that it will continue to improve the e.MAS 7 based on customer feedback. For comparison, Proton’s newer EV, the e.MAS 5, already comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard and runs on a different software system called Atlas Auto, unlike the system used in the e.MAS 7.
