Jetour has officially begun local assembly (CKD) operations in Malaysia at the Berjaya Assembly (B-Assembly) plant located in Tampoi, Johor. This marks a major step forward for the Chinese carmaker’s localisation strategy, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Malaysian market.

The plant will locally assemble two key models: the Jetour Dashing and the Jetour VT9. While the VT9 was launched in May directly in CKD form, the Dashing, which debuted in April with the first 100 units fully imported (CBU), has now transitioned into local assembly. So far, the facility has rolled out 1,000 vehicles, with CKD Dashing deliveries beginning last month and VT9 deliveries expected soon.

Jetour aims to position the Tampoi plant as an ASEAN automotive hub, with plans to export to Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East in the future. The company says this localisation move aligns with Malaysia’s national automotive goals, including boosting local content, creating skilled employment, and strengthening the local supply chain. The facility currently employs over 100 staff.

Looking ahead, Jetour is committed to investing an additional RM1.4 billion to support the rollout of more CKD models in Malaysia. The carmaker has also allocated RM216 million to establish an Asia-Pacific R&D hub, further cementing Malaysia’s role as a strategic regional base for Jetour.

This expansion follows the brand’s rapid growth and network strengthening across the country, now with over 20 sales and service outlets nationwide.
