GAC Aion Malaysia has announced a major price reduction for the Aion Y Plus EV, now starting from RM95,800 as part of its ‘Anniversary Mega Offer’. This marks a significant RM24,000 drop from the original launch price, positioning the Aion Y Plus as one of the most affordable electric MPVs in Malaysia. The promotion also includes a free portable charger, and the vehicle is covered by a factory warranty of 8 years or 200,000 km for the EV battery, motor, and electronics.



In terms of performance, the Aion Y Plus features a 204 PS front electric motor, achieving 0–100 km/h in 8.5 seconds. It’s equipped with a 63.2 kWh LFP Magazine Battery, offering a WLTP range of 430 km, and supports charging up to 80 kW DC and 6.6 kW AC.



This price adjustment further intensifies the ongoing EV price war in Malaysia, which began following the launch of the Proton eMas 7 in December 2024. Since then, several major players have slashed prices to stay competitive: the BYD Atto 3 is now priced at RM118,800, the Chery Omoda E5 dropped to RM98,818, and the Leapmotor C10 has been reduced to RM110,000–RM125,000.



While this competition benefits consumers with more affordable EV options, it also puts pressure on carmakers to maintain profitability and market share in an increasingly aggressive pricing landscape.
