Perodua Teases Bold EV Concepts for Malaysia Autoshow

06-May-2025

Perodua is gearing up to make a statement at this weekend’s Malaysia Autoshow with the promise of unveiling several bold new concepts. Highlighting “future-ready smart mobility” as the theme for its display, the national carmaker appears to be setting the stage for its next big step into electrification.

Perodua’s ambition to launch its first fully electric vehicle (EV) by the end of 2025 has been widely known, and early prototypes have already been spotted on Malaysian roads. Over the past two years, the company has been steadily building momentum with a series of electric concepts under the “eMO” banner. It started with a scale model at the 2023 Malaysia Autoshow, followed by the eMO-I — a Myvi-based EV prototype — the following year.

In December, during the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), Perodua introduced the full-sized eMO-II concept. Although it looked closer to a production vehicle compared to earlier attempts, its design remained largely conceptual, with several features unlikely to make it to the final version.

This time, expectations are high that Perodua could reveal a near-production prototype — possibly called the eMO-III — offering Malaysians a first real look at what the brand’s first EV might be. However, some confusion remains, as Perodua has previously suggested that the production model might carry the name “Episode 3” instead.

Either way, with the Autoshow just around the corner, fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
