Proton Partners with MPC to Boost Sustainable Productivity

25-Feb-2025

Proton, Malaysia’s national carmaker, has announced a new partnership with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), a government agency that works to improve the country’s productivity. The goal of this collaboration is to explore opportunities for making productivity more sustainable.

As part of this partnership, Proton and MPC jointly organized a one-day conference called “Embrace Transformation; Innovate Towards Productive Operations.” The event aimed to share ideas and best practices related to business strategies and productivity (QCD). It also provided insights into how different industries carry out strategic changes and improve operations to achieve business success.

Additionally, this partnership will open up opportunities for Proton and MPC to work directly with the Malaysian government on future projects that focus on sustainable productivity.

Besides Proton and MPC, other organizations that presented at the conference included Composites Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), and Arthur D. Little. Attendees included MPC team members, representatives from the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), as well as Proton’s senior managers and other industry experts.

MPC plays a big role in improving productivity at all levels – national, industry, and business. We focus on developing future talent, encouraging digitalization and innovation, and creating a strong business ecosystem. By working with both government and private sector organizations like Proton, we aim to enhance productivity and make Malaysia more competitive, leading to shared success,” said Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah, Deputy Director General of MPC.

Meanwhile, Proton’s CEO, Dr. Li Chunrong, added, “Through this collaboration with MPC, we can gain insights from multiple industries while adopting best practices from companies that have successfully transformed their businesses. At the same time, we also hope that Proton can contribute valuable knowledge from the automotive sector for the benefit of everyone involved.”
