The section of Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang near Perling, where several accidents have occurred in low visibility, is set to be illuminated soon. Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced that 170 street lights will be installed along the FT17 stretch from KM2.6 to KM9.4, with Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) beginning installation in September this year.
On Facebook, Onn Hafiz emphasized the state government's awareness of a widely-shared road accident near Perling leading to Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang, attributed to inadequate street lighting. He posted a brief video clip showing a recent incident involving a car and motorcycle swerving to avoid a wild boar on the road.
The Johor MB also mentioned that the road is part of Phase 3 of the Lebuhraya Pasir Gudang expansion project, which is currently in the consultant appointment stage under the finance ministry. The project, managed by the works ministry, is anticipated to commence early next year. "I trust these initiatives will result in a more conducive and safe road system for everyone," Onn Hafiz remarked.
