The currently available Perodua Bezza is the first domestically developed second national car, utilizing technology developed by Daihatsu. This model can be considered as a four-door version of the Axia, with an added rear section, providing a boot capacity exceeding 500 liters. Launched in 2016 and subject to a minor facelift in 2020, the car's sales have surged, particularly due to the rise of ride-hailing services like Grab. Currently, the Bezza is the best-selling new car in the Malaysian market, with an average monthly sales volume reaching 8,000 units.
In 2023, a mysterious manufacturer conducted a market research event where they showcased a small four-door sedan. This model was said to feature a 1.0L turbocharged engine and a 1.2L hybrid powertrain. According to rumors, this car is believed to be the prototype for the next-generation Bezza, aligning with Perodua's future plans as they are expected to transition to a 1.0L turbocharged engine (98 PS/140 Nm) to replace the current 1.3L naturally aspirated engine. Additionally, there are ongoing tests on Perodua Ativa Hybrid with a 1.2L mild-hybrid system.
