The Toyota Rush seven-seater is the first casualty of this year's farewells, which will be said with due diligence in 2024 (as they were throughout 2023).
Though the writing was on the wall back in November as the model's production decreased to zero, it was removed from UMW Toyota Motor's official website early this morning. A model that had been in sales since 2018 comes to an end with this.

The Perodua Aruz and the Rush were put together in the same Rawang facility. However, as of the time of publication, the Aruz was still being manufactured and available for purchase, therefore the Toyota sister model's demise had no effect on it.
With the Rush gone, Malaysia's selection of seven-seaters under RM 100k has become even more limited; the Perodua Alza and Aruz are the only models that stay in this segment.

In the end, the news of today also indicates that the Toyota Yaris Cross, which is aimed at the ASEAN region, is getting closer to us. This might be interpreted as an attempt to get the plant ready for the new model. It's hardly a novel idea to swap out an outdated seven-seat SUV for a new, five-seat model (Honda accomplished this first, with the WR-V inheriting the BR-V's role), but it does offer a better chance in a more competitive market category.
Though there have been no more updates, there were rumors last year that a three-row Yaris Cross might make its way to Indonesia.
There will be a lot more to come in 2024; this is just the beginning.
