According to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group's proposal, the state government of Perak will give a site for the building of a university at Proton City, Tanjung Malim. The issue was brought up two weeks ago when senior executives of the company paid the state a visit, according to Perak MB Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, as reported by Bernama.
They requested that we offer a place for the university's development during the debate, and we have also provided a number of areas that we believe would be appropriate. But no timeframe has been established for this university's building," he stated.

He continued by saying that the university's building was an important step forward since it would give people of all ages, particularly the younger ones, access to employment prospects. Stated differently, the establishment of this university will transform the area into a new hub for development. Thus, you may envision every possibility," he remarked.
Following the announcement in April of last year that the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV) development plan would be split into four parcels—the first for an auto hub, the second for a park for next-generation vehicles (NxGVs), the third for related industries, and the fourth for an education section—the proposal to construct a university in the region is being made.

Plans called for AHTV to become a center for internationally recognized research and development of high-tech automotive components based in the tropics, as well as for the establishment of a research university to enhance the skills of Malaysian automotive workers and position Malaysia as a regional leader in the fields of software development, artificial intelligence, information technology, and automotive engineering.
For the AHTV project, which is anticipated to bring in RM32bil in investments, DRB-Hicom and Geely Holding Group inked a master collaboration agreement (MCA) in October that established the project's guiding principles, governance structure, and shared purpose.
