The 2024 Honda CR-V was unveiled by Honda Malaysia (HM) last week, and the sixth-generation SUV appears to be sharper and more manly than the outgoing model. A list of recently added parts for HM is available, along with a new hybrid version of the standard C-segment SUV.

In our market, there are four variants: an RS hybrid sits atop a base 2.0L NA variant and three turbocharged petrol grades. The entry-level Turbo S costs RM159,900, while the mid-range Turbo E costs RM169,900, exactly RM10k more. The on-road price of the Turbo V AWD, without insurance, is RM181,900.





The base S variant will be available for a special price of RM157,900 for the first 750 units as part of HM's celebration of 20 years of CKD production of the CR-V in Malaysia. Early in the next year, the top 2.0L e:HEV RS hybrid variant's price will be revealed.


The same fifth-generation L15BE VTEC turbo powerplant powers the 1.5T versions, producing 243 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm and 193 PS at 6,000 rpm. According to Honda, some modest adjustments to improve acceleration response and quietness have changed the revs at which maximum power and torque arrive. Peak torque was previously provided between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm, while maximum power was reached at 5,600 rpm.





Additionally, various adjustments have been made to the well-known CVT gearbox to lessen vibration and noise. In terms of performance, the base S takes 9.7 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, while the E takes a tenth longer at 9.8 seconds. It takes 10.4 seconds for the V AWD. The top speed of the three petrol models is the same: 200 km/h.

Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) technology, same to that of the Civic e:HEV RS, powers the e:HEV hybrid. This 2.0L Atkinson-cycle engine, which is naturally aspirated, serves mainly as a generator for the internal combustion engine. 148 PS and 190 Nm of torque are produced by the four-cylinder engine at 4,500 rpm. Much of the work is done by the electric motor, but for better efficiency, there is direct drive at higher speeds via a lock-up clutch.






The e-motor produces 335 Nm of torque, which is 20 Nm higher than the Civic FE. It also produces 184 PS. With a 0-100 km/h time of 9.0 seconds, the FWD hybrid is the CR-V with the fastest acceleration. Peak velocity is 187 km/h.

Comparing the dimensions of the new CR-V to the previous model, it is 68 mm longer, 11 mm wider, and 2 mm taller at 4,691 mm long, 1,866 mm broad, and 1,681 mm tall. The wheelbase is now 2,700 mm, an increase of 40 mm. Civic owners will recognize the design even though the interior is significantly different from before. This is, as previously stated, the best-equipped CR-V to date, with features like a 360-degree camera, an adaptive driving beam, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system among others.
