Today, Bermaz Motor unveiled the updated Mazda 2, which is still being shipped completely assembled (CBU) from Thailand. With RM5,000 more than before, the B-segment car is now available in hatchback and sedan versions, with an on-road pricing of RM108,670 without insurance.

In terms of aesthetic updates, the Mazda 2 receives a redesigned grille with a black honeycomb mesh inlay and a tiny red accent for contrast. Additionally, the grille has a black rim, and the lower intake has a downturned appearance.





The slightly modified rear bumper, which is subtly positioned above the chrome exhaust finisher, also has the same red accent. The 16-inch alloy wheels on the Mazda 2 have also been redesigned. They now have a two-tone chrome and black appearance. LED headlamps are still standard, however they now include an automated on/off feature. The auto-folding side mirrors and rain-sensing wiper are two further updates.

Once inside, the Mazda 2's dashboard looks and feels familiar, with all of the controls located precisely where they should be. Cruise control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are new features. The dashboard trim is now black, and the suede and black leatherette seat upholstery incorporates red contrast stitching.





Other than these adjustments, the Mazda 2 is almost the same as it was. Keyless entry and start, four rear parking sensors, single-zone automatic air conditioning, six speakers, a reverse camera, bulb-style taillights, and rear fog lamps are all still included. The final two components are associated with an infotainment system that maintains a 7-inch touchscreen instead of the more recent and capacious 8-inch model.

In addition to a number of passive safety features including ABS, EBD, brake assist, DSC, traction control, all-seat seat belt reminder, and emergency stop signal, the B-segment automobile still has two airbags. Together with the previously stated cruise control, there is also a walkaway lock feature and hill launch aid.





There has also been no modification to the powertrain, as the 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine maintains its output of 149 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm and 114 horsepower at 6,000 rpm. A six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a manual shift mode powers the front wheels as a result. G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) and Mazda's start/stop idle technology are also integrated.

The Mazda 2 comes in six different colors; the characteristic red adds an extra RM500. Soul Red Crystal, Platinum Quartz, and Snowflake White Pearl are available for both hatchback and sedan body designs. Aero Gray is exclusive for the sedan; Polymetal Grey and Airstream Blue are exclusive colors for the hatchback.
