The Proton S70 sedan received a full five-star rating with a weighted overall score of 82.95 points from ASEAN NCAP, which was announced today along with the much-anticipated model debut.

The most recent and rigorous ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 protocol for the program was followed during the testing, and the results showed that it scored 36.46/40.00 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 17.02/20.00 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 15.71/20.00 for Safety Assist (SA), and 13.75/20.00 for Motorcyclist Safety (MS).



Based on the same BMA platform, the Proton X50 has also been rated five stars using the previous 2017-2020 test protocol. Although their scores cannot be directly compared, the comprehensive evaluations for both vehicles appear to point to a marginally better adult frontal impact protection on the new S70 sedan.

In terms of child occupant protection, the Proton S70 passed the dynamic impact tests with flying colors. It did lose some points, though, in the "installation" portion of the testing since some large child restraint systems (CRS, or child car seats), even with the isofix mounts on the two outboard rear seats, did not fit correctly.



In addition to the six airbags that come standard, the Proton S70 also has blind spot recognition, rear collision warning, child presence detection, and a seatbelt reminder system for both front and rear seat occupants.

Automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability, lane centering assist, lane departure prevention, traffic sign information, a fatigue driving reminder, and auto high beam are among the advanced driver assistance features that are available on the Premium and Premium X models.





According to the ASEAN NCAP tests, the autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitor, and automatic high beam systems have all “functioned according to the ASEAN NCAP requirements”

As to the ASEAN NCAP study, the recently launched Proton S70 shown remarkable performance during the testing program. The national carmaker's endeavor to provide road safety for all drivers is also commended.
