Today marks the introduction of the smart #1 in Malaysia. All the information you require about this electric vehicle (EV) can be found here. Pro-Net, a Proton company, disclosed during the ceremony that it had gotten over 500 reservations when the #1 became on sale.

To refresh your memory, the #1 is available in three varieties, and order taking for it started on September 19, 2023. On-the-road without insurance, the entry-level #1 Pro costs RM189,000, the #1 Premium RM219,000, and the top-of-the-line Brabus RM249,000.





Among the three available models, the Brabus is the most well-liked by astute consumers; the performance model accounts for 60% of orders. Tomorrow is when deliveries of the #1 will begin, with 300 units making up the first group of vehicles to reach this location. The waiting period, if you did not make a reservation in advance, is currently approximately one month.


Additionally, Pro-Net announced that it expects #1 sales to reach 800–1,000 units in 2024, or 10% of the local EV market, according to its projections. To put things in perspective, Malaysia sold 274 EVs in 2021; by 2022, that number had risen to 2,631 units. The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced in December of last year that they anticipated the figure for 2023 to be significantly higher.
