As soon as 2025 will see the release of Proton's electric vehicle (EV). This is according to Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB), which in a research note yesterday maintained its 'buy' rating on the stock of DRB-Hicom.
The new Proton EV is expected to debut as early as 2025, according to management. In order to create its own line of electric vehicles, Proton is also using Geely's expertise and technology. According to HLIB, as quoted by The Edge, "Management has directed the launch of the new Proton EV vehicle as early as 2025.
Now that 2023 is coming to a conclusion, 2025 is only a little more than a year away. The S70 sedan (formerly rumored to be the S50) is Proton's upcoming standout model. Does 2025 seem a bit too soon to you?
The same bank predicted in March 2022 that Proton's first EV would go on sale by 2027; therefore, if the more recent 2025 projection is accurate, Proton would have been actively pursuing EV R&D and be much ahead of schedule.
The Geely technology and connectivity, however, are without question. Check out the Geometry series of more reasonably priced EVs from Proton's partner in China, Geely, in the A sedan, the C, and the E compact crossover. Here is further information on Proton's electrification schedule.
