The 2025 Perodua QV-E, Malaysia’s first fully homegrown electric vehicle, has officially secured a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, marking a major achievement for the brand and the country’s EV development. Tested under the 2021–2025 protocol, the QV-E earned an overall score of 88.36 points, including 29.31/32 for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 42.67/51 for Child Occupant Protection (COP), a perfect 21/21 for Safety Assist, and 12/16 for Motorcyclist Safety.



In the frontal offset test, the cabin structure remained stable, although results showed marginal chest protection for the passenger and adequate protection for the driver, while side impact tests demonstrated very strong protection. The model performed exceptionally in child safety, scoring full points in dynamic tests for both 18-month-old and three-year-old dummies, though it scored 19/28 in CRS installation assessment.



The QV-E comes equipped with six airbags, a Surround View Camera, front and rear sensors, and a built-in driving video recorder, making it one of Perodua’s most safety-focused vehicles. It is also the first Perodua model to feature Child Presence Detection (CPD). The advanced Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) system adds features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW), with ASEAN NCAP confirming that the QV-E’s AEB City and Inter-Urban systems meet required performance standards. Its Blind Spot Detection (BSD) system further contributed to its strong motorcyclist safety score.



Priced at RM80,000 on-the-road (excluding insurance), the Perodua QV-E also introduces a new battery leasing model, where owners pay around RM275 per month. The battery remains owned and insured by Perodua, enabling a lifetime battery warranty with guaranteed replacement if its state-of-health drops below 70%. The rest of the vehicle is covered by a 3-year/100,000 km general warranty and a 6-year/150,000 km body warranty, positioning the QV-E as a groundbreaking and safety-focused milestone in Malaysia’s electric mobility journey.
