Get ready for an exciting new electric vehicle (EV) hitting Malaysia – it's the Perodua EMO-i concept car, making its debut at Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Essentially, it's like a Myvi EV, showing off Perodua's skills in making electric cars.
You're familiar with the Perodua Myvi, and now, the EMO-I concept adds some flair with stylish decals, sleek aero caps, and a subtly updated interior. Additionally, the headlights and taillights have been modified to give the car a futuristic look.

Here's the exciting part: the EMO-I concept runs on electricity! It's powered by a single electric motor that drives the front wheels, packing a punch with 120 kW and 315 Nm of torque. This motor is no slouch, able to rev up to 10,000 rpm. And when you hit the accelerator, expect to go from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7 to 9 seconds – it's fast! But remember, these details haven't been officially confirmed yet.
When it comes to the battery, the Perodua EMO-I targets a range of 400 km with its 57.6 kWh battery pack. Charging is pretty speedy too, using AC, it takes about 5 hours and 15 minutes for a full charge, while DC charging can get it done in just 1 hour and 10 minutes.

When it comes to the inside, the EMO-I gives the Myvi's interior a makeover by rearranging it into a 4-seater layout and adding a unique rotary gear selector. Additionally, instead of traditional side-view mirrors, the concept car sports side-view cameras. Other highlights include an Android tablet, a customized steering wheel, and screens displaying images from the side cameras.
For now, the Perodua Emo-I, also known as the "Perodua Myvi EV," is just a concept. It offers a glimpse into Perodua's vision for an affordable electric car. You can catch a glimpse of it at Malaysia Autoshow 2024, taking place from May 22nd to 26th at MAEPS, Serdang.
