This year, Isuzu Malaysia celebrated the nation's Independence Day with the Merdeka Convoy 66 event, which saw 600 Isuzu D-Max owners from throughout the country gather for a drive together, making it the country's largest ever simultaneous parade of the Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck.
On Merdeka morning, parades were held in 29 sites across the country in partnership with the company's authorized dealerships. The convoy's cars were decorated with commemorative stickers and flags, and participants wore an exclusive event t-shirt to commemorate the country's 66th year of independence.
Aside from the convoy drive, some of the dealers organized side events for the event, such as excursions to a durian farm, beach, rainforest resort, and shopping malls, with one even organizing a short off-road drive for its owners.
Isuzu Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo, who launched off the Merdeka 66 Convoy at the Isuzu Jinjang shop in Kuala Lumpur, said the event was a way for dealers to engage with owners while also honoring the particular link amongst Malaysians.
"While our goal this year was to create a meaningful Merdeka celebration among our dealers and D-Max owners, we also wanted to celebrate this sense of unity that is so unique and apparent in Malaysia with a unified activity that transcends borders," Sogo explained.
