The exclusive 'EV' number plate series is now open for bidding on JPJ eBid. The bidding will run for five days, concluding at 10PM on September 13, with results to be announced the next day.

All numbers are open for bidding except EV1, which is already reserved for a VVIP. Transport minister Anthony Loke mentioned that the name will be revealed soon during the JPJePlate launch in Cyberjaya.

These 'EV' plates are designated solely for electric vehicles. Unlike other special plates, this series will continue for all electric vehicles in Malaysia, with future plates following as EVA, EVB, and so on.



JPJ has clarified that once a bid is successful, it cannot be canceled, and appeals such as requests to use the EV plate on a non-electric vehicle—will not be entertained. Bidding fees and service charges are considered government revenue and are non-refundable.

It's important to distinguish between the EV number plates and the newly launched JPJePlate special design for EVs. The JPJePlate refers to the physical license plate, while this announcement is about the number itself. In the future, EVs will be distinguishable by both their number and the physical JPJePlate.

However, the new JPJePlate for EVs, featuring a Euro-style embossed design, the Malaysian flag, and embedded RFID, is currently optional (priced at RM98). This means the EV special series number plates can be used on either the regular black plate or the JPJePlate with a white background.
