Lidocaine
 
Indication
Epidural anaesthesia, Emergency treatment of ventricular arrhythmias, Spinal anaesthesia, Pulseless ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia, Intravenous regional anaesthesia, Percutaneous infiltration anaesthesia, sympathetic nerve block, Peripheral nerve block.
 
Instruction
Administer via IM injection/IV injection/IV infusion/Epidural/Intraspinal/Parenteral.
 
Drug interaction
May increase serum levels w/ cimetidine and propranolol. Increased risk of cardiac depression w/ β-blockers and other antiarrhythmics. Additive cardiac effects w/ IV phenytoin. Hypokalaemia caused by acetazolamide, loop diuretics and thiazides may antagonise effect of lidocaine. Dose requirements may be increased w/ long-term use of phenytoin and other enzyme-inducers.
