HP Dimension with Google Beam: The Future of 3D Video Meetings Is Here - Parts Avenue Sdn Bhd

HP Dimension with Google Beam: The Future of 3D Video Meetings Is Here

27-Aug-2025

HP just brought Google Beam (the commercial evolution of Project Starline) out of the lab and into enterprise-ready hardware with the HP Dimension, a 3D, headset-free video collaboration system shown at InfoComm 2025. It’s built to make remote conversations feel truly lifelike, using light-field imaging, spatial audio, and AI.

What the HP Dimension actually does

  • Life-sized 3D video on a 65-inch light-field display that shows depth and realistic facial detail.

  • Multi-camera capture (six high-speed cameras) plus adaptive lighting to recreate natural shadows and skin tones.

  • Spatial audio and dedicated table microphones so sound appears to come from the person’s position on screen.

  • Works without headsets or glasses, this is a holographic-style call that looks and feels like a real conversation.

Key facts you should know

  • Price & availability: HP says the Dimension will be available to select customers starting in late 2025, with an MSRP around ,999 for the hardware; the Google Beam license is sold separately. Markets announced include the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, and Japan

  • Interoperability: The system supports native experiences with Google Meet and Zoom Rooms, and can interoperate with other services (Teams, Webex) in standard 2D mode, though the 3D Beam experience requires compatible endpoints.

  • Designed for small meeting rooms: HP’s guidance points to quiet, controlled rooms (roughly 9×9 to 15×15 ft) for the best experience.

Why it matters for businesses

  • More natural remote collaboration: Improved eye contact, realistic depth cues, and spatial audio can speed decision-making in one-on-one meetings and client conversations.

  • A new class of meeting hardware: This isn’t a webcam upgrade, it’s a purpose-built system combining optics, capture, and AI to reduce the “video fatigue” gap between remote and in-person work.

  • Early enterprise adopters: HP cites interest from large organizations (examples named publicly include Salesforce, Deloitte, and NEC), showing real commercial demand for more immersive collaboration tools.

Practical considerations before you buy

  • Cost of ownership: The hardware is premium, and you'll need a separate Beam license, factor both into any ROI or pilot budget.

  • Room requirements: For best results you’ll need a quiet, suitably lit, and small meeting room. HP provides placement and room-size guidance.

  • Interoperability limits: Users on standard video platforms will still join, but only compatible Beam endpoints (or Google Beam clients) will see the 3D effect. Plan pilots accordingly.

Quick takeaway

If your org runs frequent high-value one-on-one or small group meetings, executive briefings, client demos, sales negotiations, the HP Dimension with Google Beam is a notable new option that promises richer human connection than traditional video calls. It’s an investment in presence: powerful, specialist, and best suited for early adopters and use cases where meeting quality directly affects outcomes.
