Case Study: Power Quality Monitoring At Hospital CT Scan - PQE Power System Sdn Bhd
Case Study: Power Quality Monitoring At Hospital CT Scan
18-Sep-2025
PQE Power System carried out a detailed power quality monitoring study on a hospital CT scan to evaluate voltage stability, load flow, and overall power quality index. CT scans are highly sensitive medical equipment that require clean and uninterrupted power, and any issues such as current imbalance or harmonic distortion can compromise performance, shorten equipment lifespan, or even risk patient safety.
The monitoring results revealed unbalanced current, high Total Harmonic Distortion Voltage (THDV), and excessive Total Demand Distortion (TDD), all of which were outside acceptable ranges. Based on these findings, PQE recommends corrective actions such as installing harmonic filters and addressing current imbalance to ensure reliable CT scan operation and safeguard both medical outcomes and hospital efficiency.
