Farms no longer receive rebates for live pig prices; Northern Malaysia Pork Traders Association: RM1 increase per kg

(Penang, January 1) The Northern Malaysia Pork Traders Association confirmed that Penang pig catchers and pork traders have received notice from farms that starting from January 1 this year, farms will no longer give rebates of RM50 per 100 kg for live pig prices, so it is expected that the cost of each part of pork will be increased by RM1 per kg.

Chen Shizhong, general secretary of the Northern Malaysia Pork Traders Association, issued a statement today to respond to the Penang Pig Farmers Association's statement that the price of live pigs in Northern Malaysia has not been adjusted since it was adjusted to RM1,710 per 100 kg.

He pointed out that the farm price of live pigs in Penang was adjusted to RM1,710 per 100 kg from April 23 last year, and the farm price of live pigs has always provided a rebate of RM50 per 100 kg to pork vendors, that is, the actual price received is RM1,660 per 100 kg.

He said that pork vendors also retailed the farm price of live pigs to consumers after the rebate, which indirectly benefited consumers.
 

“However, Penang pig catchers and pork traders have received a notice from the farm that the farm will no longer give a rebate of RM50 per 100 kg of live pigs from January 1 this year. ”

He said that pig catchers and pork traders must purchase farm live pigs at the original price of RM1,710 per 100 kg, so it is expected that the cost of each part of pork will be increased by RM1 per kilogram.
